Wildlife

Parc Ivoloina combines both zoological park and natural habitat on its 282 hectares (697 acres). Thus, you will have guaranteed viewing of ten lemur varieties on exhibit along with the opportunity to see at least five of these species roaming throughout the grounds.

Of note, you will see the beautiful black and white ruffed lemurs prominently featured atop this web site both in the zoo and in the wild. Also free-ranging and in the zoo are white-fronted brown lemurs, crowned lemurs, red-bellied lemurs, and the grey gentle lemur.

In the zoo, you'll see the famous aye-aye as well as bamboo lemurs, brown lemurs, and blue-eyed black lemurs.

Parc Ivoloina is also home to hundreds of radiated tortoises. Other notable Malagasy species include spider tortoises, tree boas, tomato frogs, tenrecs, vasa parrots, and panther chameleons.

Plus, a diversity of native wildlife indigenous to eastern Madagascar awaits those who explore the five nature trails through the forests.


Please Note: While some animals were born in the forest, most of the animals at Parc Ivoloina were donated, exchanged with other zoos, born outside the wild, or seized by the Malagasy government from illegal operations. Parc Ivoloina has never been involved in animal sales or trafficking.
